Always Take Some Time Off

26 08 2010

We live in a very fast paced world and it’s getting busier and crazier by the day. I now see people constantly checking their emails and sending text messages no matter where they are. Even at the gym I see people who will stop for a few seconds to check their iPhone or Blackberry for messages in between workouts. Are we now so programmed that we have to check emails or send texts no matter where we are? What does this say about our life and the pace at which we now live. Does  such a thing such as taking some time off really exist or are we so programmed that even when we say we are taking some time off, we in a way are not really taking time off because we are so wired to our smartphones and now have a tendency to want to know in an instant what’s happening around us and what our friends are up to each and every minute.

It seems we now live in a blur and the quality of life is suffering. Are we living in total chaos without realizing that we are living in total chaos? What has happened to taking some true time off and spending that time with those who are the most important to you.

I think the way we are now existing, we really have to set some boundaries and force ourselves into taking true time off which means that when we do, we are away from all aspects of  falling into the trap of trying to stay in touch with other in an instant. The world did exist yesterday without us knowing in an instant who was up to what and the world will still exist tomorrow if we take some true down time and just spend quality time  with ourselves and those who are important to us.
